I am in work mode now as I want to go back to UK with a load of work in prep, and also having made something while I am here, even if I have to bring back only photos of it. I have lots of ideas of things to make, but time is limited and so is energy. So…
I’ve been trying to simplify some of my mark making, and respond to the majesty of the birch trees with calm marks, as I usually draw with randomly furious marks. So things have been taking a new turn – and this has been a new challenge for me – to calm things down.
Here are the final results of all this thought… a series of paired drawings which I hope stand on their own – although they could very well lead to further development into more geometric structures in 3D.
My next step is to turn to trying out some work in colour – and use some of the printing inks I’ve been left by Laura. The colours of the landscapes I have seen are so beautiful – and tonight the light is changing to autumn colours:
It’s difficult to balance making rough drawings and filling sketchbooks, with thinking about making an end product before I go home… but I’ll see where i go from here…
