Thursday 17th

Published: 17th July 2014

After a morning swim – well nearly mid-day – I have spent the day in the studio and actually got somewhere…

Swim was amazing – the sun was out and the pool was nearly empty and the hot pot jacuzzi thingies were working. Work in the studio took on a turn for the better and I finished some large drawings

Studio

I’ve been fascinated by the shapes of the snow on the mountainsides and this is what I have decided to concentrate on for the rest of the time here, and to produce work for the final exhibition . So I began making a scroll of a kind of panoramic view – working on the theme that the mountainsides appear and disappear with amazing regularity…often covered in mist, and often looming large as life.

Mountainside snow shapes

I began experimenting with layering of the shapes, and that is what I will develop tomorrow as I now have so much to work on that time is beginning to get tight…feel that pressure!

This produced some interesting close-ups in the process work – these might be the source of further work later on…

I also LOVE the gap left when I take them off the wall!

The mist is drawing in as I type – here’s the view from the house a minute ago…
