Tuesday 15th

Published: 15th July 2014

A day in the studio – not really getting anywhere for a long time – not sure where to start or what to concentrate on. Just really playing and not liking the marks. Late in the day decided to concentrate on the shapes made on the mountain slopes by the snow which has not melted – they are so dramatic that i feel drawn to them. They provide the source of the rushing meltwaters which gush down in the rivers as torrents of ice-cold water – constantly rushing downwards towards the sea, full of energy, wearing away the rock surfaces with constant friction. Once again I feel as if this land is always on the move – never settled – never offering any sort of stability. The low rolling clouds also play with the surfaces and the marks –  hiding them for moments, teasing the onlooker with short glimpses before hiding them again behind the mists. So can I capture any of this feeling in drawings?

Mist

this came from a  quick burst of energy late afternoon – still to work on, but the paper is wet and needs to dry overnight.
