I became interested in ice as a material some time ago when I discovered the work of David Buckland and the Cape Farewell project. He was projecting images onto ice to create messages about climate change. I had a whole history of projecting images onto interesting surfaces through my community arts work, and so I began to develop ‘ice sheets’ from my freezer to try out on the kitchen table. This soon became a passion, leading me eventually to residencies in Arctic landscapes, where I started this journey towards endless ideas, possibilities and experiments.
